David York grew up on his family’s farm, north of Memphis. He has always had a love for dogs, horses and the other animals he had on the farm. After college in Mississippi, he moved to New York and began his career with Macy’s developing private label merchandise. Sharing an office with Andrew Traub, William Lauder, Rose Marie Bravo, Wendy Strawbridge, Richard Jaffe, and many other retail giants, his team lead to the development of Aeropostale. Roundtree and Yorke, Alfani and INC, were among the other labels developed by York and team. They are still vibrant labels today.
David founded Barking Hound Village in 1998. Built from the love of his dogs, it was one of the first doggie daycares in the U.S. It has grown to 8 current locations in Atlanta, Georgia and 2 in Texas.
Sophie’s Uptown, the popular Buckhead eatery founded by York, is the namesake of one of his most beloved rescue dogs.
